Travel Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

Your private driver-guide will pick you up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech at 8:00 AM. Begin your journey across the High Atlas Mountains, stopping for panoramic views and visits to traditional Berber villages.

Continue to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, where centuries-old kasbahs stand proudly on the ancient caravan route. After a guided visit and lunch in nearby Ouarzazate—known as the Hollywood of Morocco—we continue through Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, arriving at Dades Gorges for a relaxing evening in a family-run guesthouse.

Day 2 - Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert Camp

After breakfast, head towards the impressive Todra Gorges, where you’ll enjoy a short walk through its towering canyon walls. Continue via Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops, and arrive in Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara.

Here, you'll meet your camel guide for a trek across the majestic Erg Chebbi Dunes, arriving at our luxury desert camp just in time for sunset. Settle into your private tent with an en-suite bathroom and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner. The evening ends around the campfire with Berber music under the stars.

Day 3 - Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes

Wake early for a serene desert sunrise, followed by breakfast at camp. Ride camels back to the village, then begin your journey north toward Fes.

Pass through the lush Ziz Valley and the mountain town of Midelt, known for its apple orchards and mining heritage. After lunch, continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Azrou’s Cedar Forest to see native Barbary macaques, and in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean streets.

Arrive in Fes by late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your riad or hotel.

The distance from Marrakech to Merzouga (the gateway to the Sahara dunes) is approximately 560 km (350 miles). The drive is broken up over two days with many stops along the way, making the journey scenic and enjoyable.

Is tipping expected in Morocco?
